The inquisitiveness as to the sources of the surreptitious sustenance of imperialism in a country that has supposedly achieved independence drove us to study the accomplishments of a surrogate of the colonial master, in a novel, Monsieur Thôgô-gnigni by Bernard Dadié. The megalomaniac and kleptocratic accomplishments of the surrogate, Mr. Thôgô-gnigni – to be brief - were discovered to be, unknown to him, the haven assisting neocolonialism to thrive.
